Is it illegal to download music/video?

It's not illegal to download all music/video (check out our free-access video, music, audio and other resources list, for example), but if the music/video is copyrighted then you'll need some kind of licence or agreement to legally download it.

The Digital Economy Act doesn't change the legal status of downloads: if you were downloading copyrighted material before, it would have been subject to copyright laws. The main impact of the Act in this respect is that it makes the internet subscriber responsible for infringements carried out using their internet connection.
